We are now five weeks away from one of the best music and arts festivals in the country; Lightning in a Bottle. This festival is held in the beautiful Lake Buena Vista Recreation Area in California from May 24-29th. This will be my third time attending the festival and I am honored to be working on the press team for the event. This year I will have a bunch of friends joining me and I am thrilled for them to experience the festival for the first time.

I am very exited for the opportunity to attend some of these informational workshops to learn about more of the issues and solutions to some of Earth’s most pressing problems. This year I want to attend more of the classes at the Learning Kitchen to learn how to make some tasty vegan/vegetarian dishes. I plan to summarize what I learned in my post-event coverage of the festival.
The festival owners describe Lightning as being, “designed, built, and curated based on a core ethos centered on sustainability, harm reduction, cultural respect, and most of all, creating an environment for extraordinary experiences.”
Part of creating these extraordinary experiences are the world class musicians and artists providing music and art all day and night long. Check out the music and art lineups below.

Lightning has it’s own sustainability ambassadors on site called the “Green Team” that conducts daily walks around the festival to clean up any MOOP (Matter Out Of Place) they find and deposit it in the correct recycling bin. This keeps the festival grounds clean and tidy and ensures a lesser amount of trash ends up in the landfill. You can even apply to join the Green Team for the full duration of the festival in exchange for a free ticket to the festival. If that interests you, you can apply by clicking the button below.

Check out the recap video from last year below. It does a great job illustrating of what you can expect to see over the weekend.
I am very exited to be involved with the festival this year and share the experience with some new friends that are attending for the first time. Expect to see a photo recap in June with more info about what we learned about over the weekend. If you are interested in learning about Lightning’s sustainability practices please click here.
Lightning’s social team created a great guide on how to go green at the festival that you can check out on Instagram here.
I encourage any music, arts, and sustainability interested folks to attend Lightning in a Bottle this year as I believe it will be a great experience! If you are interested in buying a ticket you can do so by clicking the link below.
