Aucari Adventures in Chile

Outdoor Eco Adventures in Chile

Chile is home to some of the most beautiful and pristine wilderness in the world. Due to it’s shape and proximity to the equator, the country encompasses a diverse range of ecosystems ranging from dry desolate deserts to frigid mountain tundra. In fact, the Atacama Desert is the driest place on Earth, and is virtually sterile because it is blocked from moisture on both sides by the Andes mountains and by the Chilean Coast Range. Further down south, the Araucania region features an abundance of geographical wonders to explore including; volcanoes, waterfalls, mountains, and lakes. Near the southern tip of the continent, Torres del Paine encompasses jaw-dropping scenery, with many ridges, crags, glaciers, waterfalls, rivers, lakes and lagoons to explore.

Aucari is a premium All-Inclusive Eco Experience tour company that specializes in providing meaningful Eco tours in three different regions of Chile. Aucari shares the same core values and vision of sustainable travel as we do here at Epic Eco Travel so we are proud to partner with them. You can read more about Aucari’s mission here.

Adventure Destinations

Torres del Paine:
This world famous adventure paradise lies between the Andes Mountains and the Patagonian Steppe in southern Chile on the Atlantic coast. It is protected as a National Park and was classified a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve because of its four well defined ecological zones. The mountains of Torres del Paine – jagged granite ridges and spires capped with shale – have long held significance for the region’s native inhabitants. According to local myth, an evil serpent called Cai Cai caused a massive flood to kill the warrior tribe that lived in Torres del Paine. When the flood waters receded, Cai Cai took the bodies of the two largest warriors and turned them to stone – thereby creating the twin horns that crown the mountaintop of Cuernos del Paine. Although, Torres del Paine is the most popular destination for travelers coming to Patagonia, with only 115,000 visitors per year you will always be able to find solitude in the mountains.

Araucania:
Araucanía is one of the most diverse areas of the country. Visit its varied and abundant flora and fauna, and reach the mighty Llaima, one of the continent’s most spectacular volcanoes. Recover your energy at enticing thermal baths, renewing your body and giving you strength for further exploration and adventure. Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Chile’s pre-Columbian Mapuche culture that is prevalent in the Araucania region. Aucari offers a variety of Eco adventures to help you see the most of the area in a sustainable fashion. These tours include; volcano hikes, rafting, horseback riding, and much more!

San Pedro de Atacama:
The Atacama Desert’s landscape and climate will make you feel as though you are visiting another planet. The harsh weather conditions and arid landscape will bring astonishment to learn of the resilience of some of Earth’s creatures like the gorgeous James’s flamingo, chinchilla, Darwin’s rhea, horned coot and charming vicuña that inhabit this formidable terrain. When the sun sets you will be able to experience the night sky like never before, as there is no light pollution in this region. On a clear night you will be able to see the Milky Way galaxy as well as shooting stars.
